Last week, I joined the Short-term Mission Trip of Medical Care Service in Laos. I was so excited becasue it was my first trip to Laos. Laos has around 6 million population and simlar size to Korea. They are very poor economically, but their faces look bright regardless of their economic circumstances. Many parts of its land have not well developed yet, and Laos is still communist country.

Our Mission Team visited Luang Prabang, the second largest city in Laos. Surprisingly, many things became familiar to me soon. I found out why. It reminds me of previous Korea, about 40~50 years ago. Korea also had hard time half-century ago. At that time, it had not well developed and it was struggling under the destruction of Korean Civil War.

Physically, the driving force of Korean developement looks the ability of Park Jung-Hee's government, but I think the real power came from the Lord's help. Christianity in Korea grew up so fast last 50 years and it surely contributed to national development. Similarly, during this mission trip, I have prayed that Laos can also receive the help from the Lord. Currently, Laos's main religion is Buddism. Christians are very rare, just 1.5% of total population.

Laos needs more Christians who can ask the Lord's help. Somebody must proclaim Gospel there, otherwise few people know Gospel. Who can talk? Not some others. Someone among us should say them about Jesus Christ!!!
